School Uniform

At St. Philip Neri with St. Bede, we believe that a child’s appearance and dress play an important part in the life of our school. Wearing school uniform helps to make our school distinctive and gives children a sense of belonging to our community. In applying and accepting a place at St. Philip Neri with St. Bede Catholic Voluntary Academy, Governors expect parents to adhere to our compulsory dress code.

Schoolwear can be purchased from two main sources: a) the Schoolwear Centre, 69A  West Gate, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG18 1RU or b) through www.myclothing.com

  • Black shorts;
  • Black jogging bottoms or black leggings;
  • Plain white t-shirt or white polo t-shirt preferably with the St. Philip Neri with St. Bede Logo;
  • Black hoody or black tracksuit top;
  • Plimsolls;
  • Trainers;
  • Watches and earrings must be removed.

Pupils in Year 3 and Year 4 (and in Year 6 if unable to swim 25m) take part in swimming lessons. For these lessons, girls will need a full swimsuit and boys will need swimming trunks which do not have pockets. All pupils will need a towel. Goggles are discouraged by the pool we use.

Jewellery & Make-up

The wearing of jewellery by children in school is not allowed as it constitutes a safety hazard. If it is absolutely necessary for a child to wear ear jewellery, this must be limited to a single stud per ear. For children learning to tell the time or who can tell the time, they are allowed to wear a watch. However, smart watches are not permitted.

Pupils are not permitted to wear make-up in school. This includes nail varnish and temporary tattoos.

Hair Styles

It is expected that all hair styles are neat, tidy and not obstructing children’s eyes. Hair should be cut no shorter than a grade number 2 with no patterns or tram lines. Coloured hair or coloured hair extensions and braids which are not the pupils’ natural hair colour and fashion styles are not allowed.

All pupils with shoulder length hair must have it tied back with dark blue or black hair piece(s). Hair clips, bobbles and hair bands must be discrete, functional not excessive and blue or black in colour.

PLEASE LABEL ALL YOUR CHILDREN’S CLOTHING, FOOTWEAR AND BELONGINGS.
